What benefits will the Bald Hills Wind Farm bring to the community?

Based on a long-term average forecast, the Bald Hills Wind Farm should generate enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of over 62,000 average homes and avoid up to 335,000 tonnes CO2e of emissions per annum. This amount of electricity is equivalent to removing 77,000 cars off the road each year or planting half a million trees.

The project will boost the local community by creating local jobs during the construction of the wind farm and for the ongoing operations. This could include direct employment for fencing, landscaping, road building and electrical works contractors. We expect that indirect benefits may also flow to other areas such as retail and accommodation.

Once the wind farm is operating, interest in the facility could generate increased tourism to the area.
